Meet a Mom: Meet Elizabeth Girouard! | Union County Moms

Check out our latest Meet A Mom interview below with local Summit mom Elizabeth!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
Prior to Summit, we lived in London, England. We’ve been here 17 years.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
B/G twins 17 and a Girl 16yo.

Favorite things to do with your kids?
Hiking. There are so many amazing reservations and parks nearby, whether you want to walk along a stream, or lake or climb up the rocks!

Favorite places to eat & shop in the area?
Greek grill in Summit is the family favorite for an easy meal. It’s always consistent and everyone can find something they like. We have a family of different food allergies and preferences, so that’s very important! We also enjoy Gregorios in Chatham for similar reasons. The food is always really good and everyone can find something they like. My husband and I enjoy a date night at La Focaccia or a tapas meal with friends at Due 360 in Summit.

I do my mailing and printing at the UPS Store in Summit. The owner Antoinetta LeVecchia is super helpful and always goes above and beyond. Badawang Art is my go-to for inspirational and spiritual items. The owner, Carol Schoffmann, hand selects everything in the store. Walking in there reminds me of when I lived in Indonesia. You are quickly transformed to another realm, out of the everyday chaos! The Wine List of Summit is where I buy wine. Luis or Ivan will help you pick out a wine for any occasion. And, you can always grab a coffee, cupcake or flowers to take home with your purchase! Mondo is where we buy local Summit apparel. Annette has created such a welcoming space, for all to gather, and has great Summit gifts. And of course, the Summit Farmers Market for fresh local produce, fish and other delicious treats, like the gluten-free scones from Ester’s Treats!

Favorite form of self care?
This is a tough question. There are many!! Probably my favorite form of self care is cooking and eating delicious, healthy and nourishing foods. This is closely followed by movement/exercise, particularly anything that can be done outside while enjoying nature: hiking, tennis, jogging, walking, biking, etc.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
Yes, I am a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and your guide to make healthy eating and healthy living simple. If you struggle with sweet or salty cravings or emotional eating, I can help you jumpstart your health through simple food and lifestyle changes. My signature program is the Effortless 3-Day Reset program where you receive freshly prepared vegan soups, delivered to your door, supported by expert coaching. Hundreds of clients have seen amazing results in 3 short days, such as: alleviated belly bloat, weight loss, more sound sleep, increased energy, less join pain, eliminated sinus headaches and more! The program runs monthly, and the next program starts on October 12th, and registration closes on October 6th. (Depending upon feature date: the next dates are: November 16th with registrations through 11/10 or Dec 14 with registrations through 12/8)

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
People need what you have to offer, so don’t be afraid to get out there and offer it to them!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I have lived in in 6 different countries after graduating from college.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I have met so many wonderful people in Summit, Chatham and the surrounding communities who helped me to grow as an individual, a parent and an entrepreneur. There are many opportunities to give back and use your talents to help others, whether volunteering in the schools, or for service organizations like Junior Fortnightly or Junior League, or providing hands on support to groups like GRACE or SHIP, that support the food insecure in our communities. There are varied exercise options as well – from CrossFit to Yoga to Bar to Lap swimming! When my kids were younger, I met other moms at the YMCA and the Connection classes and formed many great friendships over the years. There truly is something for everyone in Summit, Chatham and the surrounding areas.

From an entrepreneur perspective, there are many ways to meet fellow mom-preneurs such as open forums organized by the Summit Public Library and the Library of the Chathams, local networking groups, like Believe Inspire Grow and MorphMom, and co-working spaces, like The CoCo.
