Here is a list of local places to donate this season!
The 4th grade Girl Scout Troop at Washington Elementary in Summit is collecting NEW pajamas and books for kids in support of the Pajama Program. The mission of the Pajama Program is to give kids better nights for better days by providing kids in need with bedtime essentials. We have easy drop off in a bin outside the main doors of Washington (on Morris Ave) and will be collecting thru the end of the year. Organization has asked us to collect all sizes (baby thru adult large), and books for 0-18 years. Please keep an eye out for pajamas and books during your holiday shopping and thanks for your support!
Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Habitat ReStores are home improvement stores that accept small and large donations of new or gently used furniture, appliances, housewares, building materials and more. Proceeds from the sales of these items help Habitat’s work in your community and around the world.
The Brooke Healey Foundation: The Brooke Healey Foundation is collecting donations to help families dealing with pediatric cancer. Now, more than ever, families are in need of support while they care for their children. The donations will go to help these families during the holidays and also towards targeted research to help cure pediatric brain cancers.
The Connection: Raising funds for after school scholarships (a program which now helps with virtual schooling). More info here!
Madison Eagle Christmas Fund: The MECF is planning to help more of our Madison neighbors this holiday season than ever before. We will expand our outreach to all families receiving free and reduced lunches in Madison schools, and will offer assistance to all senior citizens living in Madison Housing Authority residences. We will unfortunately not be able to collect toys, books, hats and gloves this year due to COVID, so your generous monetary donations will be critical to making our outreach possible. Please consider the MECF as part of your holiday giving.
Furniture Assist: Accepts all kinds of donations, see their list here, but you must have an appointment to drop off donations.
Chatham Helping Hands – Boxcar Grocery Donation: Many of our neighbors, from small business owners to furloughed workers to seniors on fixed incomes, are having a hard time making ends meet. Helping Hands was created to facilitate help for Chatham families who find themselves “food insecure” as a result of the COVID-19 restrictions. Residents can help this initiative by purchasing a box for donation.
SHIP of Summit: Opportunities to contribute to SHIP via monetary donation, volunteering and donating goods.
Interfaith Food Pantry: Thousands of Morris County residents rely on Interfaith Food Pantry for their Thanksgiving meal. Consider helping out by donating food items! Here is a list of the items needed.
Nourish NJ: Our guests rely on nourish.NJ for most if not all of their basic needs. Did you know that food stamps can’t be used to buy personal care items? By buying and donating these items, you can help provide the basics we all need to get through the week. Here is a list of current needs.
