Meet a Mom: Meet Sarah Hutchinson! | Union County Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I am originally from Munich, Germany.  I met my husband Glenn online and moved to the United States in 2014 after we married.  We lived in Denville for the first 5 years and then moved to New Providence in late 2019!

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have 2 boys!  Glenn is 3 and Jack is 6 months old.

Favorite things to do with your kids?
On days we are home, we love to cook, bake, and do arts & crafts projects together.  Anything that helps bring out my toddler’s creativity, while my 6-month-old watches!  Other than that, we enjoy having play dates with our friends, hiking in the Watchung Reservation, or going out for ice cream.  We also have a yearly membership at the Turtle Back Zoo.

Favorite places to eat & shop in the area?
Unfortunately, going out to eat has been greatly affected by the pandemic, so we haven’t been able to try as many restaurants in our area as we would have liked to.  But so far, we love Cappola’s Ristorante in New Providence for pizza and pasta (I would say it’s our “go to”), Due 360 in Summit for tapas, and Negeen Persian Grill (also in Summit)!  As for shopping, I like to get my fresh fruits and vegetables from Central Farmers Market in New Providence.  Otherwise, you will find me at the Target in Watchung.

Favorite form of self care?
Having time for self-care has become some sort of luxury these days with having an active toddler and a baby that is still breastfed.  But I try to make room for it as much as I can.  I like getting gel manicures at Endless Nails in New Providence and am looking to finally schedule a massage at The Woodhouse Day Spa in Summit.  Otherwise, taking a hot shower at the end of my day, changing into some comfortable pj’s, and enjoying a glass of wine while sitting on the couch doing absolutely nothing is currently my favorite form of self-care!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I run a blog named Momsfavthings (@momsfavthings on Instagram and working on a website as we speak) that has recently been featured on Fox News Lifestyle.  It is mainly sharing things that I love, fun things to do with your kids, recipes, home décor/design, and other motherly related topics.  I am also an International Flight Attendant based in Newark, but currently on leave for a few more months.

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
The people you surround yourself with really do have a great impact on your mindset.  Make sure that you are spending time with uplifting and supportive people only, rather than energy draining ones.  I always think of the quote “misery loves company” when someone is trying to project their negativity on me!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
That I am both an introvert and extrovert at the same time.  I love being social just as much as I love relaxing on my couch, indulging in “me” time.  I even enjoyed traveling by myself before I became a mother.  I never thought the sight of someone sitting alone at the restaurant/café is a sad one.  I find it quite relaxing!

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Besides having great neighbors, I haven’t had the chance to meet a lot of fellow moms in our area since we have moved here.  I am hoping that will change once things go back to normal!
